Post your suggestions!! This is an evolving site and can be custom for you!

I have received amazing feedback from people all over the world on how to make this site even better. I am looking for new ways to improve this site’s usability.

PLEASE, if you have a suggestion, post a comment in reply to this blog post below. So far I have received the following requests and will plan on finding the best way to implement them in the future…

  1. Have recipes appear as you start building up your food storage.
  2. Ability to add your own custom food items such as other can goods not displayed.
  3. Ability to toggle between the U.S. measurement system and the metric system.
  4. Add an additional email address during registration for a spouse.
  5. Ability to print off your current food supply.
  6. Ability to print off a blank sheet to be able to write down what you have then enter it into the computer.

Post your suggestions by adding a comment below!

I LOVE your website! I have been working on food storage for over a year now and your website is just what I needed. It has been crazy trying to figure out what I have as to what I need. This tool is GREAT! Thanks for all of your effort. I’d really love to be able to print off my current food supply! Thanks!

Me again… It would be nice to have a blank “add your own” items in each category…like powdered sugar.. cake mixes….what ever… Thanks!

Thanks for your comments! Those are great suggestions. I am working on an update to include the features such as adding custom foods, etc… So it is in the works!

As far as printing your current supply, I believe you can just print from your web browser. My wife tried it a while back and it seemed to work great for her. If that doesn’t work for you, let me know and I can implement something a little more advanced.

    Keep the suggestions coming! 🙂

I would LOVE to be able to share my storage listing with friends/family without having to share login info. It’d be great to be able to help support one another in reaching storage goals. I’m thinking of asking my fam for food storage items for Christmas, and it’d be cool to let them see my listing to shop from. Just an odd-ball idea… Thanks for what you’re offering! ~Jen:)

I love the calculator but it would be great if you could have the option of converting to metal cans from the LDS cannery instead of pounds.

  6. Chad

How about an off-line version? That would be great.

Also, everyone’s needs are a little different. There should be a way to adjust the “needed” amount.

You could also make a tracking/rotation system- so foods don’t go bad before you use them.

I was going to suggest measurement conversion and more (or customized) food choices but I see you are already planning on implementing those. Can we receive emails when things have been updated on your website so we don’t have to try to remember to keep checking back to see if the changes have been made?

Hi: Just learned about your wonderful site. Is it possible to receive e-mail updates from you when you have new information. I am concerned that I will forget to keep checking your site.

I am so glad I found this website- soo helpful. Food storage was overwhelming, but we started in January and have 6 months food storage already. I didn’t know where to start but with the websites help, I know I am on the right track and obtaining a balanced food storage. I was hoping you could add some recipes. More importantly- I don’t know what some things are used for. Ex.: molasses, evaporated milk, … and I do you have suggestions for “other dairy”? I don’t mean to complain- your website has been beyond amazing, but with all that is going on in the world I want to make sure I am properly prepared including knowing how to use it. With your help, my mind is at ease. Thank you for you website.

Thank you for commenting! I am working on a revision of the site and I will certainly send an email as soon as I have it up and running! Whenever I make a major change, I will be sending out an email.

Thank you so much for your comment. Those are great concerns. Molasses can be used for something like ginger bread, ginger snap cookies, etc… Brown sugar is made by mixing molasses and white sugar together. Evaporated milk is essential because so many recipes call for milk but milk in the containers is very hard to store. Evaporated milk stores for a long period of time and works just like regular milk and to use it, just add water. Things that would fall under the “Other dairy” section would be things like, cheese, creams, etc…

I have an idea for implementing a recipe section, I just need some good recipes given from people who have cooked some meals using their food storage supplies. Stay tuned!

This is a great food calculator. It really breaks down the process, making it seem easy rather than daunting.

What I would like to see is a place to put in fruits and vegetables. In my short term storage i have cans of both that I would like to add.

    Thanks for a great calculator.

hi, I LoVe this site, but I have a little problem… I have stuff already in #10 cans & don’t know how much things weigh (lb’s), so I have to try & remember how much I bought. If we could have the option of #10 can on the pull down tab when adding your food that would be Very HelpFuL. –plus, when we open one #10 can up, we can just subtract 1 #10 can… I hope this made sence.
Thanks for your time in putting this website together. I appreciate it! I know what it takes to do a blog/website & provide a service on it for free. THANK YOU! :o)

I just found your site and love what is offered.

It looks like life has kept you busy in other endeavors for awhile now. But I hope that you are or will be continuing to add to this amazingly helpful tool. I also, would love to have the option to add other food items. I would also love to have a way to date when an item was added and when it is set to expire.

Thank you for sharing your hard work and talent.

I am so excited by the possibilities of this site. I would like to see a few things on here. 1. An Android application. 2. The ability to scan items. 3. UPC code recognition. Thanks.
